How Creator payout documents work
Commitery generates payout documents so Creators can keep records for monthly Creator payout batches and later corrections.
These docs explain the product in plain language. The Creator Terms, Payment Terms, and other legal documents control if there is a conflict.
Monthly Gutschrift
When an eligible monthly Creator payout batch is submitted, Commitery generates a self-billed credit note, commonly called a Gutschrift in German bookkeeping. In the document, the Creator is the supplier of referral or promotional services and Commitery is the recipient. The document is available from the Creator payouts page.
The payout flow itself is described in Creator payouts.
What the document says
- The service line describes Creator referral or promotional services.
- The supplier is the Creator. The recipient is Commitery.
- The document number identifies the monthly payout document, while correction documents use a separate correction numbering pattern.
- The tax note depends on the Creator's billing setup, such as small-business treatment or standard VAT treatment.
Correction documents
- A correction document can be issued if a previously documented Creator allocation later has to be corrected.
- Typical reasons include a later chargeback, refund, dispute outcome, or reversal that changes the Creator's entitlement.
- Correction documents are kept next to payout documents for download and record keeping.
- A correction document does not necessarily mean the original payout was fraudulent. It can simply mean later payment events changed the amount the Creator was entitled to keep.
The underlying events are explained in Refunds and reversals, Chargebacks, and Creator risk.
Document format
- Commitery generates structured ZUGFeRD/Factur-X documents with EN16931 data embedded in the PDF.
- The visible PDF is intended for reading; the embedded XML is intended for accounting systems.
- Creators should review payout documents and tell Commitery if legal name, address, tax treatment, or amount is wrong.
What Creators should do
- Download and keep each monthly Gutschrift and correction document for bookkeeping.
- Check that legal name, address, tax treatment, VAT ID or tax details, period, and amount are correct.
- Tell Commitery promptly if a document is wrong, especially before using it in accounting records.
Tax treatment is covered in Creator taxes.
