Commitery

Proof scope

The proof scope is the contract for evidence. It defines what would count as proof of your goal, is locked in at checkout, and is the single standard every verdict is measured against.

These docs explain the product in plain language. The Creator Terms, Payment Terms, and other legal documents control if there is a conflict.

What the proof scope is

The proof scope is a written description of what acceptable evidence looks like for your specific goal. It turns a goal stated in plain language into something that can be objectively checked.

  • It describes the kind of evidence expected, not a vague idea of “success”.
  • It is part of the commitment, alongside the amount and the deadlines.

How it is created

Commitery generates the proof scope before checkout, based on the goal you wrote. You review it as part of confirming the commitment.

  • It is generated up front so the rules are known before you commit, not invented afterwards.
  • Reviewing it is a key step in creating a commitment — a clearer goal produces a clearer scope.

Locked at checkout

Once you accept the commitment, the proof scope is fixed. This is what protects you: the standard cannot be moved after the fact.

  • It does not change while the commitment is active, and review cannot rewrite it.
  • A verdict can only judge your evidence against this fixed scope — it cannot raise the bar.

Why it matters

The proof scope is what makes the outcome objective rather than a matter of opinion. Both a completed verdict and a failed verdict proposal are simply the answer to one question: does the uploaded evidence meet the agreed scope? How that evidence is assessed is covered in Proof and review.
