How refunds and reversals work

Refunds and reversals protect customers and keep Creator allocations aligned with money actually collected.

These docs explain the product in plain language. The Creator Terms, Payment Terms, and other legal documents control if there is a conflict.

Customer refunds

Commitery can refund where legally required, where a withdrawal is effective, where a dispute is accepted, or where a payment error occurred.
Refunds normally go back to the original payment method through Stripe.
A refund can make a related Creator allocation no longer payable.

Creator allocation effects

If an allocation has not yet been paid out, Commitery can cancel it or reverse the related transfer. If the Creator already received a bank payout, Commitery can offset the amount against future payout batches or request repayment.

Records and documents

Commitery keeps records of refunds, reversals, and offsets. Where a documented Creator payout later changes, Commitery can generate a correction document so the accounting record remains consistent.
