How Creator payouts work
Creator payouts are calculated by Commitery and paid through Stripe Connect after eligibility and risk checks.
Who can receive payouts
- The Creator must complete Stripe Connect payout onboarding and have payouts enabled.
- The Creator must also complete Commitery billing details. At launch, Creator billing is prepared for German business Creators.
- Challenge creation and payout submission can be blocked until payout setup and billing details are complete.

When earnings exist
Creator earnings are not created when a user clicks a link, starts a draft, creates a commitment, or receives a failed verdict proposal. The relevant amount starts as a Creator allocation only after the attributed commitment has a final failed outcome and the customer charge succeeds.
- If the user completes the commitment, there is no Creator allocation.
- If the user withdraws in time, there is no Creator allocation.
- If the product dispute is accepted, there is no Creator allocation.
- If the charge fails or is later reversed, the allocation can be delayed, cancelled, recovered, or offset.
The attribution step is explained in Creator attribution; the customer charge is explained in Charges and invoices.
Payout lifecycle
- If an attributed commitment fails and the customer is successfully charged, Commitery calculates the Creator allocation.
- The allocation remains pending during a risk hold of at least 30 days. It is not yet a bank payout.
- After the risk hold, eligible allocations join the next monthly Creator payout batch by Creator and currency.
- Stripe Connect submits the payout to the Creator's connected payout account.
Monthly documents are covered in Payout documents. Post-payment risks are covered in Risk and reversals.
Dashboard balances
- Pending: the allocation exists but is still inside the risk hold or is waiting on eligibility checks.
- Available for next payout: the minimum risk hold has passed and the allocation can be included in the next monthly batch if nothing else blocks it.
- Paid out: the allocation has been included in a paid monthly payout batch. It can still be corrected later if a chargeback or other reversal happens after payout.
Why a payout can be delayed
- The Creator payout account is not fully onboarded or Stripe requires more information.
- Creator billing details are incomplete or cannot be used for the required payout document.
- A refund, dispute, chargeback, reversal, or technical payout error affects the allocation.
- The monthly payout run has not happened yet. Completing the minimum risk hold does not mean same-day bank payout.
- Commitery or Stripe is reviewing fraud, abuse, policy, or payment risk connected to the referral.
Reversals and offsets
If a customer payment is refunded or lost after a dispute, the related Creator allocation may be reversed. If funds cannot be recovered directly from the connected Stripe balance, Commitery can offset the unrecovered amount against future Creator payouts or request repayment.
